keep your head down we're about to pull in and don't move a muscle
all these cars at the 41TWIN I've never been
they're sneaking me in in the back floorboards covered with blankets
my nerves are wired are we breaking the law I hope that it's worth it
four big screens a teenage dream who's all here at the drive in
all these thoughts going through my head like frogs in the pizza
then that time Bryan went with his Mom to the 24 Starlite
he fell asleep in the first ten minutes of a double feature
and woke in bed and totally missed Battlestar Galactica
2 big screens a young boy's dream cars galore at the drive in
I was looking for love as long as I remember I blame my Mom's touch
it was the only thing that mattered in this cruel world
from the wrong side of the tracks or maybe my body I'm not sure what
it was I don't think that there were too many willing to call me
their man
just a stupid kid wandering through gravel with so much to learn I hope
that I have for the sake of my wife and my kids
if you are alone it won't be forever and God's always close just call to
HIM cuz if you draw near to him he'll draw near to you
cuz if you are alone I doubt it's forever just pick up the phone and get with somebody and share your life with them
at the drive in

Rob

I wanna reminisce about an old friend Rob but I need to give you a little
backstory so you'll see
my family broke up and we moved away from a small town to the suburbs
of a big city at least big for me
the first dude I met at that new school was Dan Lewandowski but the
second was Rob with his coke bottle glasses
we listened to Dr. Dimento in his room and eventually that turned into
They Might Be Giants, They Might Be Giants
there was a dark time back in high school where he dated this curly haired blonde I think her name was Becky we all said he was whipped
we were picking up dishes at the 41's Best Rob was always in the back learning Spanish from Santiago he put it to good use
we rocked all night to the Sugar Cubes, PIL, New Order and the Violent Femmes second row
I'm running out of room on this here page but it's been a lot of fun recalling the memories of my good friend Rob but thus endeth the lesson
about Mr. Rob don't call him Bob certainly not Robert gorgeous Rob hot model Rob is he snob I think not although he lived where they do (Mequon) Mr. Magoo sorry I'm just rhyming these bells are chiming for this song to end about my good friend Rooooooob (that's about enough of that)

voted most likely to fail I guess I didn't fit in with the white picket fencers
drawn to the less traveled trail it's no surprise the times were what they were
I've been fightin my whole life and sometimes you just get tired
Fathers and Sons strong headed men an untrusting heart a stubborn mind people that claim they always know better how to live your life even while watching yourself waste away
I was fightin for my life well I'm tired of fighting I'm fightin for my life well I'm tired of fighting
Help my pick my battles (repeated)
